Welcome back

Coming Home

However long you have been away, the Father’s house is still your home. Christ is waiting for you, and so are we.

And when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and running to him fell upon his neck, and kissed him. Luke 15:20
A word from our pastor

Return to the Lord

Every heart is made for God, and it remains restless until it rests in Him. Many people drift from the Church for a time, distracted, wounded or simply busy, and many find their way back. If something in you is stirring, that is grace: God is calling you home. Come as you are, but do not stay as you are. Christ wants to forgive you, heal you and make you new, and you do not have to do it alone.

— Fr. Jeff Oehring, Pastor

The Prodigal Son

A story about you

Jesus told this parable for everyone who has ever wandered. It is a story about the Father’s mercy.

✠
“He came to himself”Far from home, the son remembered his father’s house and decided to return. That first step, turning back, is the beginning of conversion.
✦
The father ran to himBefore the son could say a word, his father ran and embraced him. God is far more eager to welcome us than we are to come.
❦
A feast was preparedThe son confessed, “Father, I have sinned.” The father clothed him in the best robe and called for a feast: “This my son was dead, and is come to life again: was lost, and is found.”
Good to know

What’s holding you back?

These are the worries we hear most often. None of them has to keep you away.

“It’s been decades.”

It is never too late. Priests hear “it’s been a long time” every week, and every time it is a joy.

“I don’t remember what to do.”

Follow the people around you, and let the Mass carry you. Our guide to the Mass walks you through every part.

“I’m nervous about Confession.”

Tell the priest it’s been a while and he will gently help you through it. See how to go to Confession.

“I’ve done things I’m ashamed of.”

No sin is greater than God’s mercy. That is exactly what Confession is for.

“My marriage situation is complicated.”

You are still welcome at Mass. Please speak with a priest privately; the Church’s path forward may be clearer than you think.

“I don’t know anyone.”

Say hello to the Pastor on the front steps after Mass, and come to a group where you can pray and grow alongside others.

Your next steps

Three steps home

  1. 1
Come to Mass. Kneel before the altar, let the silence quiet your heart, and let the Lord speak to you. See Mass times →
  2. 2
Go to Confession. If you have been away from Mass or are aware of serious sin, make a good Confession before receiving Holy Communion. No sin is greater than God’s mercy.
  3. 3
Begin to pray again. Each day, read a little of Sacred Scripture and pray the Rosary. If you have questions, the Pastor would be glad to meet with you.
