Enter Through Our Re-Finished Doors

Doors are rich biblical symbols. In Psalm 24 we hear the stirring call:

“Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.”

Our Lord Himself used this image to describe His saving role in our lives:

“I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”

Pope St. John Paul II, in his apostolic letter Porta Fidei, reflected:

“The “door of faith” (Acts 14:27) is always open for us, ushering us into the life of communion with God and offering entry into his Church. It is possible to cross that threshold when the word of God is proclaimed and the heart allows itself to be shaped by transforming grace. To enter through that door is to set out on a journey that lasts a lifetime.”

We are therefore delighted as a parish to unveil the beautifully refinished main doors of our church—the very ones through which most people enter the house of God and depart, sent out into the world. Many of you will remember the worn condition they were in; this restoration marks a major improvement and a visible sign of our devotion to the treasure of our Church.

Our hope is that, just as Scripture and tradition speak of doors as thresholds to grace, these renewed doors will inspire all who enter to be mindful of Christ, who is Himself the true Door.

If you would like to support this completed project, we are still gratefully accepting donations.
