The first Lenten Parish Mission at St. Ann’s (in a long time) was filled with plenty of valuable insights from the writings of the venerable Bishop Fulton Sheen as presented by Mr. Allan Smith. The first talk highlighted the history of devotion to the face of Christ, and the second talk presented some of Bishop Sheens reflections on the Seven Last Words of Our Lord from the cross. Bishop Sheen would frequently draw out connections from the seven last words to other aspects of our faith, like the petitions in the Our Father and the Beatitudes.
We began the day with Holy Mass at 9 am. Afterwards, we gathered in the school gym for light refreshments before heading back to the church for the first talk. Following this we made a Holy Hour and then had lunch together, sharing what struck us about the Holy Face. Finally, we received the second talk and then had a period of question and answer.
