Rorate Mass
Saturday, December 13th @ 7 AM
Celebrated in the early morning hours, this Mass is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and is named after the Latin incipit of its Introit, "Rorate caeli desuper" ("Drop down dew, ye heavens").
Characterized by its anticipation of the coming of Christ, the Rorate Mass is celebrated by candlelight, symbolizing the light of Christ shining in the darkness. The liturgy emphasises themes of hope, preparation, and the joyful expectation of the Nativity.
Rooted in ancient tradition but enduring in modern practice, the Rorate Mass invites the faithful to deepen their spiritual preparation for Christmas, honouring Mary’s role in salvation history and reflecting on the mystery of the Incarnation.
Join us at St. Ann Hamilton as we observe this reverent and inspiring tradition, embracing its sacred atmosphere and the profound joy it brings to Advent devotion.
